* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is
forecast.
* WHERE...Skagit River near Mt. Vernon.
* WHEN...Until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 32.0 feet, the Skagit River will cause major flooding
from Sedro Woolley downstream through Mount Vernon to the mouth.
Deep and swift flood waters will inundate many roads...farmlands
and residential areas. Flooding will occur all along the river
including headwaters...tributaries...and other streams within and
near the Skagit River Basin. This level for this location on the
Skagit corresponds to a Phase 2 flood in the Skagit County flood
system.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:15 PM PST Saturday the stage was 30.1 feet.
- Flood stage is 28.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 9:15 PM PST Saturday was 31.6 feet.
- Forecast...The river will continue to recede possibly falling
just below flood stage late Sunday night into Monday morning.
The river will start rising again later Monday morning
reaching moderate flood stage early Tuesday morning, major
flood stage Tuesday afternoon, with the cresting near 33.5
feet Tuesday night.
